Bio-Solids being Reused

Total annual quantity of bio-solids reused as a percentage of total bio-solids produced (measured in dry matter mass) in Putrajaya. Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) is the sole wastewater treatment operator in Putrajaya and produces bio-solids as a by-product of the sewage treatment process. A bio-solids circular reuse programme is under active development — targeting application as soil conditioner for Putrajaya's urban farming and greening initiatives under the Bumi Hijau Campaign.

Indicator Overview

Putrajaya’s bio-solids reuse programme is anchored by Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK), the sole wastewater treatment operator for the Putrajaya sewerage network. IWK produces bio-solids as a by-product of the primary and secondary sewage treatment process. A structured bio-solids circular reuse roadmap is under development, targeting application as organic soil conditioner for Putrajaya’s urban farming initiatives and Bumi Hijau greening campaign — creating a closed-loop resource recovery ecosystem. Data collection for IND-63 compliance is actively being established through IWK’s sewage treatment plant records and site outlet monitoring.
