The Tryke Micromobility Service in Putrajaya is a shared electric scooter and bicycle initiative aimed at providing a sustainable, convenient, and eco-friendly transportation alternative for short-distance travel and recreation. Operated by Tryke Transportation Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Perbadanan Putrajaya, the service supports the city’s vision of reducing carbon emissions and promoting green mobility.

Rollout & Parking Stations

Tryke officially started operating in Putrajaya on August 7, 2024, launching its first shared e-scooter micro-mobility services along the Putrajaya lakeside. A total fleet of 120 e-scooters has been deployed.

The deployment is structured in phases with designated virtual parking stations:

  • Phase 1 Stations: Putrajaya Lake Club, Ayer@8, Precinct 7 Entrance, Heriott Watt University, Seri Gemilang Bridge, and Seri Empangan Park.
  • Phase 2 Expansion: Added Anjung Floria, Millennium Monument, and Taman Wawasan, extending the total coverage to 20 kilometers of scenic routes along the Putrajaya Lake promenade.

This strategic expansion is designed to enhance the experience for both residents and tourists, providing an effortless way to explore these iconic landmarks without relying on private motor vehicles.

App-Based Operation & Safety

The entire system is managed via the Tryke mobile application. Users simply locate an available e-scooter or e-bike using the app’s live map, scan a QR code to unlock the vehicle, and ride at affordable per-minute rates.

To ensure public safety and orderly operation, Tryke utilizes advanced GPS geofencing technology. This ensures that the micromobility vehicles:

  • Operate exclusively within approved safe zones, separated from heavy motor traffic.
  • Comply with strict speed limits in high-pedestrian areas.
  • Are parked only in designated virtual parking hubs to prevent urban clutter.

By integrating seamlessly with Putrajaya’s existing pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, Tryke provides a vital first-and-last-mile connectivity solution that aligns with the Malaysia Smart City Framework’s goals for intelligent urban mobility.
