Overview
The Sistem Kawalan Punca Pencemaran Alam Sekitar (SKPPAS) represents a vital IoT intervention designed to protect Putrajaya’s signature blue infrastructure. By deploying advanced floating telemetry nodes across the lake system, SKPPAS continuously monitors parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). This automated vigilance allows municipal biologists to preemptively identify and neutralize point-source pollution, preserving the lake’s ecological balance and recreational viability.
PSCB Blueprint Alignment
- Smart Application: 2.1: SKPPAS / SCADA
- Objective: Ensuring that the environmental conditions of Putrajaya will be constantly monitored to allow for a high quality environment
- Desired Outcome: The system strengthened real-time water pollution monitoring and enabled earlier detection of pollution incidents within Putrajaya Lake catchment areas.
- Implementation Approach: The system was implemented by installing realtime water quality monitoring stations at identified pollution hotspot areas around Putrajaya Lake based on previous pollution incident records.
