Overview
Following the successful completion of the initial Autonomous Electric Bus pilot trials in 2024, Perbadanan Putrajaya has officially moved forward with the commercialization and deployment of a full-scale Autonomous Feeder Service.
Tender Award and Procurement
To implement the formal service, Perbadanan Putrajaya initiated an official procurement process. The tender for the “Autonomous Electric Feeder Bus Services in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya for an 18-Month Period” was successfully awarded to Handal Indah Sdn Bhd. This procurement was officially handled by Perbadanan Putrajaya.
Current Status and Implementation
The autonomous electric buses are currently in the construction and manufacturing phase. Once fully completed and delivered, the fleet will officially commence operations to serve the public.
- Designated Route: The autonomous buses will operate a dedicated route connecting Putrajaya Sentral directly to Persiaran Perdana, serving as a critical first-and-last-mile connectivity solution for government employees and the general public visiting the core administrative district.
- Service Duration: The initial operational contract runs for a period of 18 months to continuously evaluate real-world performance, safety, and long-term sustainability.
By transitioning from a pilot project to an officially procured public service, Putrajaya formalises its commitment to autonomous and low-emission public transit as part of its structured smart mobility programme.
