National Smart Mobility Standard
Smart Mobility within the Malaysia Smart City Framework addresses the critical challenges of urban congestion, transport emissions, and commuter inefficiency. This domain provides the strategic direction for developing highly connected, data-driven transport ecosystems that prioritise public transit, micro-mobility, and intelligent traffic orchestration over traditional private vehicle reliance.
The framework supports the implementation of integrated cashless transit payment gateways, real-time parking guidance systems, adaptive traffic light controls, and the deployment of autonomous or electric vehicle infrastructure. It aims to create a seamless, end-to-end journey experience for urban commuters while reducing the carbon footprint of municipal transport networks.
Putrajaya acts as a premier testbed for these national objectives, operationalising the Smart Mobility domain through extensive deployment of electronic variable message signs (VMS), the Waze Connected Citizens Partnership, and upcoming micro-mobility corridors—ensuring efficient transit across its 38-kilometre boulevard network.
